Sure that sounds a bit hyped. Well this is the Internet. In all honesty, Composites-By-Design is a work in progress and a slow one at that. We shut our Mesa fabrication site down in 2000 - too many other designer/fabricators out their anyway. I still miss that place, but touch labor will all move to China or Mexico in time anyway. Our first effort, Flightline Composite Structures, is a bitter-sweet memory. I still love that global-turnkey-on-the-fly ball-busting concept of a company. If our military friends ever need our help again, we stand ready.
People in the industry (the SAMPE crowd) already think I'm a bit crazy. I like that. Composites, after all, are for aircraft and sporting goods only - with spins-offs in appropriate and accepted niche markets. Infrastructure is big - the consultants have been on that bandwagon for a time (diminished income in aerospace) and some will cash in down the road (pun intended).
Thinking "out of the box" has long since become a goofy cliché - and even those touting it when it was a hot phrase rarely "got it." Well, out of favor or not - that's what we do: Evolutionary product design with advanced composites at the core. I wish we could show you some of the stuff that we are developing, but it's just a bit too crazy & cool to divulge at this date. Fluff, Smoke & Mirrors? Maybe. Come back from time to time and see.
